Handling young patients requires trained hands. It is crucial we choose the right dentist for our children to address all their oral concerns with the utmost care and effectiveness. At Cantrell dental, we have highly experienced staff who make dental treatment seems fun for children while treating their oral conditions.
Prevention is better than cure, and this is more than true when it comes to dentistry. We take every necessary measure to ensure your child doesn’t develop an oral infection or cavity through regular consultations. Some of our preventive dental measures are as follows:
Sealants: Sealants are acrylic applicants applied on the surface of the occlusal grooves (the grooves present on the surface of the molars and premolars). They prevent the accumulation of the microbes in the grooves, thereby considerably reducing the chances of developing cavities.
Oral examinations: They include a thorough screening of the oral cavity to determine the onset of any infection, damage, cavities, and soft tissue inflammation. It helps us provide better treatment to your child.
Fluoride treatment: Fluoride is an essential mineral that’s present in our teeth. It helps the teeth fight cavities by increasing their strength and immunity towards microbes in the mouth. A fluoride treatment ensures the optimal amount of fluoride is replenished in the teeth.
Oral education:Perhaps, the best thing parents can do to prevent their child from contracting any oral infection is to keep an eye out for their oral health. Make sure they brush and floss their teeth twice every day, keep their sugary content consumption to a minimum, and take them to a dentist for regular oral consultations. We would educate parents on how best to take care of their child’s teeth.
Malocclusion or misalignment of the teeth can entirely ruin the appearance of your child’s smile. Some of the common causes of malocclusion are heredity, teeth grinding, faulty pacifiers, chewing on hard objects, and delayed falling off of baby teeth. In case you feel the alignment of your child’s teeth isn’t proper, or if they’re suffering from a bad bite, breathing, swallowing, etc., bring them to us for a thorough screening. We would diagnose them and suggest a suitable treatment method.
Most children would feel scared to visit a dentist. The sight of all the dental equipment and the procedures could make the child nervous, but that’s nothing to worry about. Our staff is well-trained to handle such situations through their friendly and pleasant treatment methods. In case the patient has a hard time being seated still and makes a lot of fuss, we can administer mild sedatives in the form of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) through a comfortably fitting mask on the nose. Its effect would naturally wear off after a few minutes and would have no side-effects whatsoever.
